Dentures
are probably one of the oldest ways to replace missing teeth. And
they are also very cost effective. In the event that someone loses
all of their teeth due to age or other factors, dentures can replace the
missing teeth and allow the person to function better in their daily
lives. Not only are dentures useful in chewing, a well designed
set of dentures can make the face look less aged. Dentures need to be cared for, cleaned and maintained on a regular basis. They will need to be relined several times over their lifespan. They also require some repair from time to time.
One thing is for sure. No matter how good the dentures are or what they are made of, they simply will not feel the same as your own teeth. Also, some of the taste buds in the mouth will be covered by the base of the dentures making the food not as tasty.
Some individuals want a more stable option once they realize that the dentures move around a little bit in the mouth. This is a role filled by Implant Dentures.
With placement of as few as 2 implants a denture (especially a lower denture) can be made much less wobbly. If more stability is desired, then 4 implants are the recommended choice. Implants are placed and the dentures are modified so that they can snap onto the implants.
Almost any denture can be converted into an Implant Denture. Or, you can make a brand new one to fit the newly placed dental implants. Click the link to learn more about implant dentures.
