Crowns: Zirconia, All-Ceramic, PFG and Gold
Crowns are made of different materials, as explained by our San Marcos dentist. Crowns are used when the damage to a tooth is too great to fix with a filling or bonding. Another reason crowns may be used is to protect a tooth following root canal therapy. Reasons can range from medical necessity to a smile makeover.
Crowns: Different Designs and Materials
When a tooth needs a crown because it's badly broken down, a more conservative type of crown can be used. These types of crowns are called onlays. They are used in cases where there is still some healthy tooth structure remaining. With onlays, it's possible to save the healthy tooth structure while restoring and repairing the broken part.
